La Pizzeria in the Chelsea Farmers Market is probably the place I would have to think twice about sending my worst enemy.

I visited for a quick drink with family when they came to visit for a weekend  a couple of months ago. When the owner came to take our order he was very clearly annoyed that most of us were only having drinks ( bare in mind that it was 4pm and the restaurant was empty bar one table) As we had already been seated he got us our wine and the cheese cake that my little sister had ordered.

During our 20 minute stay the owner rudely turned away about 5 tables wanting to sit in the sunshine with a glass of wine. ' This is a restaurant not a bar,' he grunted. When we asked why he was turning customers away, he replied ' you should not be here either.' Clearly we had over looked the fact that this harmless looking market style eatery, was in fact very exclusive and we had been lucky to have been allowed the picnic table in the first place.

We were made to feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable, and so promptly asked for the bill from our waitress, who I have to say seemed very polite and friendly. We were greeted with a pricey bill. We questioned the amount they had charged us for the cheesecake (which was served with nothing, just simply a small slice of cheese cake on an otherwise empty plate) Living in London, I know prices are high, but £9.00 for a bit of cake is ridiculous in my book - and no, it wasn't on the menu. 'These are restaurant prices' the owner assured us.

The owner was SO rude and really quite a bizarre man, who really put a downer on the otherwise lovely day. I advise you to double think before eating here - that is, if you are even allowed to be seated in the first place.

The worst possible experience you could have had at a restaurant.

After going there for lunch we were firstly refused to sit outside in the sun even though there was tables available.

When seated we asked the waitress if we could have a jug of water on the table and was told that this waitress doesn't take orders. So we had to wait for another waitress to come along and then ask for a jug of water for the table. When we orded the meals the owner of the restaurant took our orders and once again we were greeted by someone who came across like us being there was an inconvenience.

When we were paying around £15 a meal so we expected the meals to be pretty good. The carbonara was far too creamy and the risotto a little dry and the rice not cooked properly.

After the meals we decided to ask for the bill and leave after not being satisfied with the service or the meals. When attempting to pay by card the same waitress who doesn't take orders (what does she do then?) she told us that it's cash only. So we asked where the closest atm was and she said walk out to to the street and go left or right...

After getting the money together we agreed that after the service and food that we would not pay the discretionary tip that had already been added to our bill. As we walked out of the restaurant the owner then chased after one of my friends and said excuse me you forgot to pay your tip to which we replied that we weren't happy with the service or the food and it wasn't deserving of a tip. He then boldy told us that we should not have come to his restaraunt then which we assured him we wouldn't be coming back.

If you are thinking of having lunch around Kings Rd then don't head towards La Pizzeria in Chelsea Farmers Market.

I agree with the other reviewers. Have never been made to feel so unwelcome at a restaurant - this guy is unpleasant and rude. As a group of four, we were initially told we had to have a table inside even though half the tables in the sunshine were available. After we reached an agreement on being allowed to sit in the sun, we ordered a couple of jugs of Pimm's before deciding on pizzas to share - at which point we were told that everyone at the table had to order a main. I understand why restaurants have rules like this and we would have happily complied, were the message not delivered in such a hostile, angry way. This guy has issues. We asked for a bill for the drinks we'd ordered, and then since no-one came to collect  it we left the cash on the table and walked away - at which point we were accosted by a raging lunatic who accused us of doing a runner. Very Britishly, we simply pointed out that the cash was on the table rather than saying what we really wanted to say to him, and went up the road a couple of minutes to the wonderful Sydney Arms where we got a table in the sunshine, some great bar food, and Pimm's that were twice as good, twice as big and half the price.
